Roberta Murray is a multi-discipline visual artist living in Alberta, Canada. She divides her time between photography, illustration, and painting. Whether working in pixels or paint, Roberta strives for evocative imagery which makes an emotional connection with the viewer and suggests a story. Her work is available for licensing for a variety of purposes from decor art, stock photography, book publishing, editorial, surface design and more.
"As I child, I played with my parents camera, drew and painted. I guess things haven't changed all that much, because I still create through those 3 mediums today. Perhaps I just haven't grown up yet. Visual art, for me, is an escape giving me the freedom of discovery, play, learning, and experimentation. I’ve never been able to keep a journal or diary. Words fail, but the visual language sings with the emotions I can’t otherwise express. I am not striving to capture reality in my images, I am striving to capture abstract thoughts, ideas, or moods. Whether I am working in paint or pixel, I treat art as a journey; and just like how I travel, every path is an adventure waiting to be discovered." In 2009 Roberta Murray was juried into the Alberta Society of Artists. A professional arts organization her great x2 uncle Frederick George Cross was a founding member of. In 2014 she was juried into the Federation of Canadian Artists. Roberta actively licenses her photographic and illustrative works, and sells her paintings through galleries or directly. Her works have been sold worldwide.
